"Even today, new patients who are still being given thalidomide are at great risk of suffering severe pain for the rest of their lives." Says Dr. Colin Crawford, a British Physician campaigning for better understanding of the drug and its side effects.
Dr. Crawford has been actively trying to warn the medical community as well as patients of thalidomide's common (but usually ignored/ dismissed) debilitating side effect, thalidomide neuropathy. His letters to medical journals have gone unpublished, while the use of the drug yet to be fully approved in most countries continues to rise steeply.
Please visit his site for more information; learn the facts and read the suppressed truth about thalidomide neuropathy (with reference to research). While the site does not specifically mention Behcet's disease, Dr. Crawford has helped such patients receiving thalidomide in the past, and has volunteered to pass on to BIG any relevant information he comes across.
We thank Dr. Crawford for standing up to patients rights and for his cooperation and help with BIG.
A testimony of a BD patient's experience with thalidomide and its side effects is available here.
