"Fortunately, my specialist Rheumatologist, Dr. Nisar, does not make me feel a hypochondriac. Dr. Nisar
believed in me from the first consultation, unlike the previous
specialist, an Orthopaediac surgeon, who advised that there was
nothing wrong and it was all in my head.
I am still battling with the medical profession, namely my GP. He does not believe that I have Behcet's, saying only men and persons from Turkey and Asia can have this disease. My GP initially refused to supply me with repeat prescriptions and I felt like "piggy in the middle". I think that my GP is beginning to see the way of my specialist, or maybe has washed his hands off the situation, leaving treatment up to the specialist." (Ms. Helen Lane, May 2000)
